Paragliding over Medellin
The Flight Experience

After a safety briefing and harness check, you and your pilot take a few running steps off the slope and the canopy lifts you gently into the air. Once airborne the sensation is calm and smooth, not a stomach drop, and you glide over patchwork farmland and ridgelines. Pilots can keep it mellow for nervous first timers or add gentle spirals for thrill seekers. Most flights include photos and video from a pole mounted camera.

Where You Fly

The main launch zone is in the hills near San Felix, in the Bello area about 45 minutes to an hour from El Poblado. From there you look out over the northern end of the Aburra valley, with the city skyline in the distance and green countryside all around. The mild, stable weather of the region means flights run almost year round, weather permitting.

Safety and What to Bring

Tandem paragliding is very safe when you fly with licensed pilots and certified gear, which reputable operators use. Wear closed shoes and comfortable clothes, bring a light jacket as it is cooler aloft, and secure glasses and phones. Flights work best in the morning when thermals are gentle and the air is clearest. Pickup from your hotel is usually included.

Wear closed shoes and a light jacket

Best in the morning

No experience required
